Sir Sam Jonah
Executive Chairman
 
Sam Jonah KBE OSG was educated in Ghana and thereafter at the Camborne School of Mines in Cornwall and Imperial College of Science & Technology, London.
 
He was appointed president of AngloGold Ashanti Ltd in 2004, following the merger of AngloGold Ltd and Ashanti Goldfields Co Ltd. Prior to this he was CEO of Ashanti, which became the first African company to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange. In December 2004, CNN/Time Magazine named him as one of 25 “Business Influentials” who set the global standards for management, ethics, marketing and innovation.
 
 
 
John Barton-Bridges

John has more than 25 years of professional experience in mining, infrastructure, finance, and private equity.
 
He was previously Vice President at AIG Investments, one of the world’s largest asset managers, where he focused on Alternative Investments , particularly emerging market private equity. Prior to this he spent 10 years with International Finance Corporation, the private-sector arm of the World Bank Group and the largest multilateral source of equity and loan financing for private sector projects in emerging markets.
Prior to IFC he spent 12 years as an engineer with SRK, and other firms, working in the mining sector in Africa, Canada and the USA. John holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Cape Town, an M.Sc. from the University of London, Imperial College of Science & Technology (DIC), and an MBA from INSEAD, France.
 
 
 
Mike Wuth
Chief Executive: Jonah Mining
 
Previously the Head of Strategic Equity and Equity Investments (Mining and Minerals) at Standard Bank, Mike’s extensive experience in the financial field is combined with many years spent as an exploration and research geologist and mining analyst.
 
For 11 years he headed up mining research at Rice Rinaldi Turner and Co, later moving to the resources sector at ABN Amro Securities SA. He has held the position of MD at both Standard Equities (Research) and Andisa Securities.

Mike holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc in Economic Geology from the University of Witwatersrand.
 
 
 
Richard Jonah
Director
 
Prior to Jonah Capital, Richard worked with NM Rothschild in London and Washington DC and subsequent to that Goldman Sachs in New York. Richard has gained valuable experience in the investment banking divisions of both firms.
 
Richard has travelled extensively in Africa and has developed an invaluable network across many fields and industries.

Richard Jonah currently serves on the board of directors of Jonah Capital, Sentula Mining and at various times, served on; the Strategy Committee, Investment Committee, and Audit Committees of various companies including Sentula Mining, Shanta Gold, and Metropolitan Insurance.

He holds a BA in Economics from Haverford College Philadelphia and has taken many recognized courses.
 
 
 
Fidel Jonah
Director of Jonah Capital
 
Fidel Jonah is currently a Director of Jonah Capital, African Facilitation Services, Abalengani Structured Financial Products, Iron Mineral Beneficiation Services and the PA Group.
 
His diverse career includes working with Deloitte & Touchẻ Consulting in Ghana, Balfour Williamson & Sons (UK) as International Buyer and Citland LLC, an American mining supplies company as the Regional Representative for West Africa. Fidel attended Greenwich University in the UK where he received a Bachelors degree in Economics. He then went on to receive an MBA from City University Business School in London.
 
 
 
David Brouze
Director of Jonah Capital
 
David Brouze completed his B Com and B Acc at the University of the Witwatersrand. He completed his articles between 1987 and 1988. In 1997 he became involved in Handbags International and was responsible for the creation and listing of The House of Busby on the JSE. David then went on to form Furnex Capital Ltd which was listed on the JSE as a financial buying group for the furniture industry. In 2001 this business was acquired by Massmart Holdings. In 2004, David acquired a majority shareholding in Austro Group that distributes woodworking machinery. In 2007 he successfully listed Austro on the JSE, becoming executive chairman.
 
 
 
Timothy Thackwray

Timothy Thackwray has been a part of a team of five senior bankers who focus on investment banking client coverage since July 2006. Prior to that he worked in the corporate finance division for 13 years.
 
He was appointed the Head of Department in 1999 and was responsible for the day to day management of the Corporate Finance Division which houses, inter alia, Standard Bank’s mergers and acquisitions, IPO, privatisation and black economic empowerment advisory expertise. He is also a member of the Executive Committeee of Standard Corporate and Investment Banking Division. Prior to Standard Bank, Timothy gained 4 years auditing and consulting experience at KPMG. Timothy holds a BCom degree and a graduate diploma In Accounting from the University of Cape Town. Additionally, he is a recognised CA in South Africa and has a Master of Commerce from the University of the Witwatersrand (Thesis: Structures for Black Economic Empowerment in South Africa).
 
 
Simba Makoni
Non-Executive Director
 
Simba Makoni, originally from Zimbabwe, has wide experience in business and general management, especially in development policy formulation and strategic planning, as well as international diplomacy, regional and international trade and investment. He is currently the Managing Director of Makonsult (PVT) Ltd.
 
Previously he held a number of ministerial positions in Zimbabwe and worked in various countries across Africa. Simba speaks several African and international languages and holds a BSc (Hons), Chemistry and Zoology from Leeds University, UK and a PhD, Medicinal Chemistry, Leicester Polytechnic, UK.
 
 
Martin Kingston
Non-Executive Director
 
Martin Kingston has been the Deputy Executive Chairman of NM Rothschild & Sons since January 2007. From July December 2006, he was the Executive Chairman of Longcross Capital, and prior to that he was the Executive Chairman as well as Head of Global Banking at Deutsche Bank (South Africa).
 
Martin has 24 years experience in investment banking with Deutsche Bank and previously with Morgan Grenfell. He has extensive experience in Africa, Latin America, the former Soviet Union, Middle East and the UK. Martin is currently a member of the transformation committees at Anglo American, Xstrata, Rothschild and Kagiso. He is also a board member of Financial Sector Charter Council and of The Banking Association. Additionally, he is the Chairman of International Bankers Association and Chairperson of BESO’s Social Impact Projects Programme South Africa (SIPPSA) 2000. Martin has a BA (Hons) and ACA (Chartered Accountant) from Durham University in the UK.
 
 
Valentine Chitalu

Valentine Chitalu is an entrepreneur with a private equity, economics and accounting background. He graduated with an M.Phil in Development Economics from Kings College, University of Cambridge in 1987.
 
Valentine Chitalu is a member of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the United Kingdom. He was until December 2003, a Regional Director at CDC/ Actis. Prior to joining CDC/Actis, Valentine Chitalu was in charge of the privatization programme in Zambia and previously worked for KPMG in the United Kingdom Valentine was previously Chief Executive Officer at the Zambia Privatisation Agency where he was responsible for the divestiture of over 240 enterprises. Valentine holds several board positions in Zambia, South Africa and the United Kingdom and is Chairman of Zambian Breweries, Stanbic Bank Limited and Afgri Corporation Limited.
